Hand churned, artisanal ice cream with traditional and creative gourmet flavors

OK, so I know we have been talking a lot about health and wellness and taking better care of oneself in the New Year. But this doesn’t mean you have to go without treats and indulgences. How much fun would that be? And if you are going to do it, do it right. The Daily Scoop is the place to indulge. We recently enjoyed the best ice cream we have had yet in Singapore.

We stumbled upon Daily Scoop’s newest location on a recent trip to Chip Bee Gardens in Holland Village. It was Saturday afternoon and the place was totally packed out. We popped in to see what all the fuss was about…from the outside it looked like your average ice cream shop. But inside it was anything but average.

The Daily Scoop features over 40 flavors of ice cream – some traditional (strawberry and chocolate and the like), but what really excited us were the creative, gourmet flavor combinations like none we had seen before in Singapore. There was Lychee Martini, Utterly Avocado, Ginger Crumble (with crystallized ginger and gingersnaps), Durian, Wasabi Mango, Green Tea & Red Bean, Hei! Sesame and more.

After sampling several, I decided on a scoop of the Salted Mr Brown…a dreamy concoction of sea salt, brown sugar and brownies. While Paul (a peanut butter fiend), could not resist the Chunky Peanut Butter. Actually we had a really hard time deciding and made a pact upon ordering to share.

My Salted Mr Brown was out of this world. The sea salt was judiciously used and the perfect amount to set off the creamy brown sugar and chunks of brownie. Paul’s Chunky Peanut Butter was unlike any peanut butter ice cream I have had (and I have had plenty!), they somehow managed to capture the rich essence of freshly roasted peanuts.

And all this for S$3 a scoop – this must be the best deal in town. When we are back next time, we plan to try the set….a fresh baked waffle or warm brownie with a scoop of ice cream for only S$5.50. Either that or the affogato or root beer float….decisions…..decisions….

We had a chance to talk to the owner, Melissa, while there and asked her how she managed to come up with such dreamy concoctions. She talked about being inspired by desserts, cakes, seasonal fruits, cocktails and her customers’ requests. Well, all we can say is, Melissa keep up the good work! This is decidedly the best ice cream we have enjoyed in Singapore.
