Best Day Ever

I’m so excited! April 21st is fast approaching and for those of you who don’t know, April 21st is Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops. Head to any outlet for a free cone! Yup, Ben & Jerry’s + Free Ice Cream = Perfect Day for Paul.

My intense love of Ben & Jerry’s traces back to the summer of 2000 living in Boulder, CO. I worked on the popular Pearl Street just a few doors down from my dream corner. Three ice cream shops at one intersection… Ben and Jerry’s in one spot, Hagen Daz at another, and a Cold Stone type place on another…and the managers at all these places loved to swap around gift certificates with my boss, meaning our incentives for sales were free ice cream – I was salesman of the summer.

I’d had Ben & Jerry’s before, but never in a “Scoop Shop”. The first time I visited I was overwhelmed with the selection…up to this point I was only familiar with Cherry Garcia and a couple others… So I asked them to recommend something I might not think to try. They offered Chubby Hubby – consisting of pretzel nuggets, which are covered in fudge and filled with peanut butter, in a vanilla malt ice cream base, which is itself swirled with fudge and peanut butter throughout. I was sold.

The Scoop Shops do take things up a notch as far as flavors, freshness, and general enjoyment are concerned. Can’t go wrong on this day. Maybe I’ll try and put together a Scoop Shop Crawl and see how many cones I can put down in one day 😉
